The law relating to Ski Helmets

Scott Trouble Junior RRP £55 OUR PRICE £44
Smith Junior Antic RRP £55 OUR PRICE £38.50

Between 9 and 19 per cent of all skiing injuries reported are head injuries and subsequent brain injuries from accidents are a leading cause of death in winter sports. Researchers in the British Medical Journal say helmets should be included in equipment rental packages at ski resorts as research has shown them to significantly reduce head injuries. They said that, among adults, injuries were reduced by 35 per cent and 59 per cent in children.  Certainly most parents would not dream of letting their 'little rippers' loose on the slopes without one and the law has stated in countries such as Italy that helmets must be worn by under 13 year olds (under 15 in lower Austria). The mandatory use of helmets continues to be debated by insurance companies.

And so in the last few years the wearing of helmets has risen sharply.  Manufacturers have raced to design helmets that are lightweight, comfortable - and look good!
